Mumbai: Having claimed no silverware so far during their 10-year stay in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will set their sights on the prestigious trophy once again have come close as finalists twice.

The franchise first retained three players during the retention process – Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Sarfraz Khan. And followed it up by using the Right-to-Match (RTM) card for Yuzvendra Chahal and Pawan Negi.

However, RCB who have not known to be lethal in the bowling departing despite a fierce batting line-up fixed the weak link with the additions all-rounders Chris Woakes, Colin de Grandhomme and New Zealand pacer Tim Southee. Indian pacer Umesh Yadav, who has established himself as one of the best death bowlers in the league was also roped in.

Big names like Chris Gayle and KL Rahul (both signed by Kings XI Punjab) were let go of by the franchise, but the franchise made that up by swooping in veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Brendon McCullum.
