Rahane may not feature in top XI for ICC World Twenty20
New Delhi: India are set to play the World T20 championships and Dhoni’s men — who lost the one-day series in Australia before sweeping the T20 series 3-0 — will be keen to put up a strong show in front of home fans.
Dhoni, under whom India won the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007, said, “We do not lack in any particular thing, but the T20 format is such that there is very little difference between the teams these days.
“The conditions matter, how you keep the big hitters silent matter and a combination of such factors. It’s not that only one team have been winning the T20 World titles. It’s important to field your best XI, and I think we have been decent in the T20 format in the last few years.”

Dhoni also hinted that Ajinkya Rahane might find it difficult to make the final XI, as India begin their campaign against New Zealand in Nagpur on March 15.
“He is someone who has been very consistent in T20. Yes, he has not been part of the XI in T20 Internationals but that is because of the current form of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. And if your two openers are performing like that, it makes the skipper’s job difficult.
“Of course, Rahane is fantastic but one has to understand that he is someone who does well in this format when he opens the innings. If you look at the 15 that we had for the Asia Cup it does get difficult to find a place sometimes. But if you talk of his performances in the IPL, Rahane is among the best batsmen.”
