Here's why Team India captain Virat Kohli ended his tie with Premier Futsal League

Virat Kohli is currently in Chennai, where the Men in Blue will face world champions Australia in the first of the five ODIs on Sunday.

Mumbai: Team India captain Virat Kohli on Friday ended his association with the Premier Futsal League (PFL) tournament as an ambassador, few days after saying no to endorsing a soft drink brand.

According to Bangalore Mirror, the Delhi batsman had completed legal formalities for stepping down as the brand ambassador for the Futsal tournament.

Virat Kohli, co-owner of FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL), was involved with the Premier Futsal as the brand ambassador during its inaugural season, which is not recognised by AIFF(All India Football Federation) or the footballing world body FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association ).

Last year, AIFF president Praful Patel had tweeted saying any brand ambassador of the ISL cannot be associated with an unrecognized football body, as it was not registered with the AIFF or FIFA.

Kohli has partnered with sports fan engagement platform Rooter, that will provide Premier Futsal fans with key data and insights from the matches.

The Indian skipper is currently in Chennai, where the Men in Blue will face world champions Australia in the first of the five ODIs on Sunday.
