Superstitious Chris Gayle fails again

Hosts, already in a desperate situation to keep their playoffs' hopes alive and also there was Gayle who was itching to get back in form.

Most cricketers are generally superstitious by nature, albeit on the field. And it was evident during RCB’s encounter against Gujarat Lions. The hosts, already in a desperate situation to keep their playoffs’ hopes alive and also there was Chris Gayle who was itching to get back in form. During their Green Match, the Caribbean ace instead of his usual jersey No. 333, walked in sporting No. 175 in their green outfits. However, the change in the number failed to bring around a change in his fortunes as Gayle fell cheaply once again.

Horror show for local boy Shivil Kaushik

It wasn’t a sweet home coming for local boy Shivil Kaushik donning Gujarat Lions colours. Bowling his third over at the death, the rookie chinaman Shivil watched in horror as the blazing Virat Kohli hammered 30 runs. The Bengaluru lad with the quirky action gave away 50 runs in his three overs.

ABD, Kohli join 3000 club
As RCB piled up a huge 248 owing to batting heroics from AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli, the South African became the third home batsman to go past 3000 runs in IPL. Kohli tops the charts for RCB followed by Gayle and ABD joined the list and in the process became only the third overseas batsman after the West Indian and David Warner to achieve the feat. Six Indians — Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa and MS Dhoni make up the cream.
