Mumbai: It is the season of biopics — Azhar (on Mohammad Azharuddin), Dhoni – The Untold Story (on Mahendra Singh Dhoni) and Sachin (on Sachin Tendulkar). The sudden announcement of Tendulkar’s biopic came as a surprise and left people guessing as to who would play the teenager Tendulkar on screen.
According to reports, Tendulkar’s son – Arjun – will play the younger side of the legend.
It makes sense for he looks similar to what Tendulkar did in his early days. It is learnt that the filmmaker and casting director tried out other faces but none could match up to the Master Blaster’s teenage curly-haired looks.
On top of that, Arjun being a cricketer is an added advantage. He would do complete justice to the signature Tendulkar mannerisms.
The 15-year-old has a similar body language – even he bites his nails while fielding. But he bats and bowls left-handed - it remains to be seen how that part is handled.
Mayuresh, another actor, is playing Tendulkar’s elder brother.
Tendulkar’s Bandra residence will be seen on camera too.
