Virat Kohli's appearance in West Bengal class X board exam delights students
Mumbai: India’s top cricketer Virat Kohli is a well-known figure not only in the country but also throughout the world.
Kohli, who has been rested for the ongoing Nidahas Trophy tri-series, is spending most of his leisure time with his lady love Anushka Sharma.
Students writing their class X board exams in West Bengal had a surprise question in their English question paper.
According to Hindustan Times, one of the questions which appeared in the paper was to write an essay on the talismanic skipper.
“We wrote the answer with delight as we never expected a question like this. He is my idol,” said Shamim Akhtar, a student of Nabipur Saralabala High School in Murshidabad, West Bengal.
Isha Shaw, a student of Balarampur Girls High School in Kolkata also expressed her happiness in answering the question.
“It always feels good to write about a player of Kohli’s stature. He is an icon and I was delighted to write his profile,” she said.
“Besides being an icon, Kohli’s life is about dedication, hard work and discipline, which can be an example for students. I appreciate the gesture and I hope in future there will be questions on sporting icons not only in Madhyamik but other board examinations as well,” former Bengal cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla said.
Prasun Paria, headmaster of Moupal Deshapran Vidyapith in Salboni also spoke on the prominent question.
"The students were excited as they were writing on a sports icon whose exploits they appreciate on TV,” he said.
Virat Kohli will return to cricketing action when he resumes his stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
