Sabbir Rahman smashes Chris Gayle's BPL record
Mirpur: Chris Gayle is known as one of the most destructive batsmen in the world of cricket. The West Indies star has smashed even the best of bowlers all around the park during his career.
Sabbir Rahman of Bangladesh, on Sunday, played an innings that completely blew Gayle and his Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) record away.
Till Sunday, Gayle held the record for the highest individual score for a batsman (112) in BPL.
Sabbir however, played an innings that completely eclipsed Gayle’s record, as he went on to score 122 runs from 61 balls, in a match between Barisal Bulls and Rajshahi Kings, at the Shere Bangla stadium, in Mirpur, Bangladesh.
The 24-year-old hit nine sixes and as many fours, on his way to the record-breaking score.
However, Sabir’s efforts went in vain, as Rajshahi failed to chase down the target of 193 set by Barisal, in a high-scoring match.
Here is a video of Sabbir’s blistering knock.
