Jumbo hat in the BCCI ring
Bengaluru: The Indian cricket's chief coach job just got a Jumbo bid! With the cricket board breaking tradition and seeking applicants from far and wide for the post lying vacant after Ravi Shastri's contract as Team Director ended following the T20 World Cup, former India skipper Anil Kumble has pitch-forked himself into contention.
The 45-year-old genial leggie, the most successful bowler for India with 619 Test wickets and 337 ODI scalps, has applied for the demanding yet coveted job.
Apart from Kumble, his former team-mate Venkatesh Prasad, who served as Team India's bowling coach for two years has also applied for the job.
Kumble's biggest rival for the post is definitely Shastri, and their wealth of experience, charm and man-management ability which scores over all the 55 others in the fray.
