Mushfiqur Rahim laps up positives

Captain Mushfiqur Rahim, who hit a century in the first innings, termed the tour a learning curve for his inexperienced team.

Hyderabad: Bangladesh may have lost the one-off Test but have done pretty well to take the game to the last session. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim, who hit a century in the first innings, termed the tour a learning curve for his inexperienced team and said they were taking a lot of positives out of it.

“We have learnt a lot. Would really love to tour India again if invited and come up with good results in near future,” he said after the match.

Excerpts
On the match: The first innings was crucial. We need to execute our plans as a bowling unit. If we could have restricted India to 550 at least, they would have had to bat another session which means we would have batted three sessions instead of four. In that area, we gave 170 runs more. Our bowlers need to learn as to how we should bowl in partnerships, create pressure and grab chances. Also in batting if someone from top four could have gone big, we could have got closer.

On the positives: There are some good performances and it gives us belief going forward that we can compete with the World No.1 team till three-and-a-half or four days. Losing to them at tea time on fifth day made us believe what we can achieve in coming days. Mehedi Hasan (allrounder) played well, Taijul Islam bowled well in first innings, Mahmudullah played well in second innings, Shakib bowled well in second innings and batted well, Soumya Sarkar looks good.

Quit captaincy: If you are entrusted with 2 or 3 roles (batsman, wicketkeeper, captain), that means the team management has shown faith in you. So I need to deliver in all three departments really well.
