VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) ombudsman Justice G. Krishnamohan Reddy on Tuesday sacked ACA secretary V. Durga Prasad, finding him guilty of misconduct and acting against the interests of the state cricket body.
Earlier Krishna District Cricket Association (KDCA) vice president V. Prabhu Prasad of Vijayawada had approached the apex counsel of ACA, contending the Krishna cricket body is not implementing Lodha reforms, as stipulated by the Supreme Court.
Without any directive from ACA apex counsel or taking legal opinion, ACA secretary Durga Prasad filed objections over implementation of Lodha reforms in district cricket associations. He also went on to question powers of the ombudsman.
Further, Durga Prasad actively participated in the process of filing nominations by contestants to posts in KDCA and accompanied them to the election officer Satyanadh.
Upon this, KDCA vice president Prabhu Prasad approached ombudsman Justice Krishnamohan Reddy seeking that any election to KDCA be held illegal, null and void.
Subsequently, the ombudsman examined KDCA secretary A. Yella Rao, wherein participation of Durga Prasad in KDCA general body meetings, appointing of election officer and role in conducting elections got established.
Taking into consideration claims of Prabhu Prasad and Durga Prasad, apart from crucial evidence provided by Yella Rao, the ombudsman concluded that ACA secretary Durga Prasad acted in a manner detrimental to welfare of Andhra Cricket Association as well as orders of ombudsman in this regard.
On these grounds, Justice Krishnamohan Reddy passed orders sacking Durga Prasad as ACA secretary, the sacking being in accordance and well within the purview of ACA byelaws.
