Ravi Shastri to speak to Virat Kohli about MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh's Team India future

Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have played a crucial role in Team India's limited overs sides, ever since Virat Kohli took over.

Mumbai: Newly appointed Team India head coach believes that it is not yet time for senior cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh call curtains on their respective careers as of yet.

Both Yuvraj and Dhoni are in their mid thirties, but have played a crucial role in India’s limited overs sides, ever since Virat Kohli took over as the captain in January, 2016.

When asked about the role of the two middle-order batters, Ravi Shastri said although there is still a long way to go for the 2019 World Cup, he will have a schat with skipper Virat Kohli about their future in the team.

“2019 is a long way to go. They're two champion cricketers. We will deal with them when time comes,” Shastri said to India Today. “Will spend time with captain and take things forward. I've not spoken to him (Virat Kohli). I will speak to him.

Ravi Shastri was appointed as the head coach after Anil Kumble resigned from his Team India head coach role following a reported rift with Kohli. However, Shastri ruled out the possibility of past events affecting the future relationship between captain and coach.

“I don't carry baggage, what happened in the past is not my problem. I will start afresh,” he said. “Whatever I discuss with Virat will stay between him and me.”
