Safi Darashah cricket tournament: Abhishek Reddy double century powers President's XI
Bengaluru: Abhishek Reddy began the season with a bang smashing a double century as President’s XI piled a mammoth 412 for 2 against Vice President’s XI on the opening day of the Safi Darashah cricket tournament here on Tuesday.
At the Alur(2) ground, President’s XI rode on Reddy’s 251-ball knock that was studded with 25 hits to the ropes and six sixes. Shreyas Gopal remained unbeaten on 67 while Anirudha A Joshi made 41.
Pacer SL Akshay, leggie Praveen Dubey and off-spinner Zeeshanali Sayyed bagged two wickets each. In reply, Vice President’s XI were 31 for one.
In another encounter at Alur 3, Bangalore Zone’s left-arm spinner Mitrakant Yadav’s five-wicket haul crashed Combined XI to a mere 175. Siddharth (37) and Milind Ramesh (33) played out match-saving innings while KC Cariappa grabbed three wickets and Darshan Machaiah took two. In chase of the modest target, Bangalore Zone were struggling at 81 for 3 at end of day’s play.
