Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad goes past Virat Kohli in T20Is

Mohammad Shahzad surpassed Indian skipper Virat Kohli to become the fourth highest run-getter in international T20 cricket.

Greater Noida: Afghanistan are unbeaten in last 11 T20Is and beat Ireland on Sunday to whitewash their opponents 3-0. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad struck a destructive 72 to help the Asian nation post a daunting target of 234. Ireland could only manage 205 and lost the match by 28 runs.

With 72, Shahzad surpassed Indian skipper Virat Kohli to become the fourth highest run-getter in international T20 cricket. The Afghan batsman has now scored 1779 runs in 58 T20Is at an average of 32.34 and with a strike rate of 136.84.

Fifth-placed Kohli has scored 1709 runs at an average of 53.50 with a strike rate of 134.77. The Indian captain has played 10 less T20Is than Shahzad.

Brendon McCullum tops batting charts with 2140 runs, followed by Tillakaratne Dilshan (1889) and Martin Guptill (1806).
