Team India may not have been on a strong footing in the final Test against England at the Oval, but Hanuma Vihari’s cricket-loving sister Vaishnavi expressed satisfaction over her brother’s debut performance.
“I feel very happy about his 56 runs in the first innings and his bowling too,” she says, adding, “This was a great debut, given the difficult conditions. His top class bowling and taking the wickets of top batsmen Root and Cook in two consecutive balls is also appreciable.”
Describing her brother’s wicket haul as ‘special’, Vaishnavi says, “Cook is a legendary cricketer and taking his wicket on his final appearance was special, as was the wicket of the captain.” She adds, “I was waiting for a hat-trick and eagerly watched the next delivery, but there are no regrets. I am happy because ultimately he got three wickets and gave an all round performance in this Test.”
