IPL 2017: Umpires make glaring error during Mumbai Indians-Sunrisers Hyderabad match

The umpires' possible lapse in concentration did not cost Sunrisers Hyderabad a wicket as Warner took a single to bring Dhawan on strike.

Mumbai: David Warner hits a four on the last legitimate ball of the sixth over. And then, he takes strike on the first ball of the seventh over. Yes, you read it right.

The on-field umpires, Nitin Menon and CK Nandan, for the Mumbai Indians versus Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Wednesday made a goof-up of sorts, as they missed out on a simple detail.

For SRH’s good fortune, the umpires’ possible lapse in concentration did not cost the side a wicket as Warner took a single to bring Shikhar Dhawan on strike, who went on to hit two fours and a six in the over.

Warner had hit a four on the last ball of the sixth over bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. However, umpire CK Nandan missed the fact as Warner, as it should have been the case, did not go at the non-striker’s end and faced the first ball of the seventh over bowled by the left-arm pacer Mitchell McClenaghan.

While there have not been many on-field issues on the field this IPL season thus far, a couple of glaring errors from the umpires, in addition to the one at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, have been a talking point.
