Match-fixing allegations in PSL not surprising: Shoaib Akhtar
Mumbai: Former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar expressed his disappointment at the reports of match-fixing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), but also revealed that he was not surprised by these reports.
There has been a huge crackdown on match-fixing over the last few years, with two of the Indian Premier League teams – Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals – have been suspended.
There have also been a few reports of alleged match-fixing in the PSL, as a number of players have been called in for questioning by the anti-corruption unit. Mohammad Irfan, Sharjeel Khan, and Rashid Latif are a few of the players that have been linked with match-fixing allegations.
Sharjeel and Latif had been suspended from the PSL and sent back to Pakistan, earlier this week.
Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar however, believes that match-fixing reports in the shortest format of the game should not surprise anyone.
However, the 41-year-old believes that the players in question, if found guilty, should be punished.
