Jason Holder wants batsmen to be more patient

We definitely didn't play good enough. We were below par in all three departments of the game, said Holder.

Hyderabad: Having been bowled out for paltry totals to lose the first Test by an innings and 272 runs, West Indies captain Jason Holder called upon his batsmen to be patient at the wicket and work on building partnerships, ahead of the second Test starting here on Friday.

“The execution was just not right. We didn’t have enough partnerships in the middle. If you saw how India batted, they got big partnerships going and players who got in went on to score big runs. We have to take a leaf out of their book and make sure we build some big partnerships. We need to be more patient and ready for the grind. I urged them to be patient for longer periods which we didn’t do in the last game. We need to absorb pressure,” Holder said.

Acknowledging India’s dominance in the opener, Holder said: “We definitely didn’t play good enough. We were below par in all three departments of the game. We’ve got to string together good performances in this Test.”
