Shardul Thakur, Varun Aaron keep India A in hunt
Brisbane: The four-day match between Australia A in Brisbane looks poised for a thrilling finish, with the hosts needing 100 more runs to win with six wickets in hand, after rain ended play at tea on day 3.
Having taken a two-run first-innings lead, India ‘A’ resumed on 44/2 on the third day and collapsed to 156 all out. Jayant Yadav was the top-scorer for the visitors with 46. Australia ‘A’ ended the day at 59/4, after Shardul Thakur’s two wickets in consecutive balls resulted in a poor start for the hosts. Opener Cameron Bancroft (16) and Beau Webster (6) were at the crease.
Joe Burns was bowled by Thakur on 11 while Travis Dean went very next ball, after being caught by Faiz Fazal at backward point. Varun Aaron then removed Marcus Stoinis for a duck, leaving Australia A reeling at 50/4.
