No decision yet: BCCI after reports claim Ravi Shastri as Team India coach
Mumbai: Hours after the news of the BCCI’s appointment of former cricketer Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team, the Indian cricket board has denied the reports, saying that the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) is still deliberating its options.
The CAC, comprising of former India greats Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, had interviewed five candidates for the Team India head coach post, which was left vacated by Anil Kumble, after the ICC Champions Trophy, earlier this year.
While the CAC had held off on its decision to appoint a new head coach on Monday, several media reports suggested, on Tuesday afternoon, that Ravi Shastri, who is said to the be frontrunner and captain Virat Kohli’s top pick for the job.
However, just about an hour after ANI had reported the appointment of Shastri as the new India head coach, BCCI came out to deny the story.
