Venkatesh Iyer plays cricket with Ved pathashala students
The players were not in whites. They were not in blue either. But they all thoroughly enjoyed playing cricket!

Indian cricketer Venkatesh Iyer took to Instagram and posted a video of him playing with a few children inside the premises of a temple in Tamil Nadu. The video soon went viral, and attracted comments that were both positive and negative. While some Netizens praised the ace cricketer, others felt he should not have played inside the temple premises.
“I had gone for darshan to the Manimandapam (in Orikkai). All the young pujaris and Ved pathshala students were excited. As they performed all the rituals for me I was surprised by their love for me”, said the 28-year-old all-rounder who has played two ODIs and nine T-2OIs for the country.
Speaking exclusively to DC, he said, “Then they requested me to play cricket with them. Being a cricket lover, I could not refuse. They set up the facilities and we played a game. It was a wonderful experience to play cricket with them. Their love for the game is unbelievable. I had a great time with Ved pathshala students in Kanchipuram.”
Venkatesh said he even smashed a six while playing with the students. “We played wearing veshtis (South Indian dhotis). It is the common attire for devotees visiting temples in the South. I was comfortable wearing it and playing cricket in it,” he added.
