Cricket event for challenged in Hyderabad

As many as 24 teams comprising 480 players from across the country will slug it out for top honours in the tourney.

Hyderabad: The Board of Disabled Cricket Association (BDCA), a cricketing body which supports and organises tournaments for the physically challenged, is organising the first of its kind National League from April 14 to 18 in Hyderabad.

As many as 24 teams comprising 480 players from across the country will slug it out for top honours in the tourney, BDCA president Punnami Krishna said during the jersey launch on Tuesday.

Matches will be played at the Lal Bahadur Stadium, Hyderabad Public School and grounds in Peerzadiguda that are affiliated to the Hyderabad Cricket Association.

“At the conclusion of the tournament, 60 players would be selected for a national camp, from which a 16-member squad will be formed to represent the country in an international series that is being planned,” Krishna said.
