Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli reveals comeback date on Instagram
Mumbai: In what could be delightful news for his fans and well wishers, Virat Kohli, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, on Tuesday revealed that he is getting closer to get back into the action.
Kohli, who led India to what was a brilliant home season of Test cricket, injured his right shoulder during the third India versus Australia Test in MS Dhoni’s hometown Ranchi.
Kohli, while chasing the ball, bumped onto the ground on Day 1 of the Test. The Indian skipper was rushed back to the dressing room immediately after the incident and did not take field until he came out to bat.
Although he was keen to feature in the series-deciding Test in Dharamsala, failure to attend 100 per cent fitness denied him a chance to lead against Steve Smith and Co. For the records, Ajinkya Rahane led India to victory in that Test as the team reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Such was the severity of his injury that Kohli was advised not to participate in the initial phase of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League.
“The Indian Captain will undergo rehabilitation after sustaining an injury to his right shoulder. His recovery will be assessed in the second week of April to determine an exact return to play date for IPL 2017,” BCCI had said in a media release issued last month.
While it is evident that Royal Challengers Bangalore have missed Kohli’s presence, going by Kohli’s post on Instagram, the team’s wait to have him in the playing XI will be over soon.
Kohli, who posted a video of his fitness drills, wrote: “Can't wait to get back onto the field. Almost there now. 14th April.”
