MS Dhoni unlikely to witness Virat Kohli and Co take on Australia in Ranchi Test

MS Dhoni had paid a surprise visit to the Ranchi stadium which will be hosting the 3rd India-Australia Test cricket match.

Mumbai: Team India's former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni may be an unlikely spectator for the crucial 3rd Test match against Australia, scheduled to be played in his hometown, Ranchi. This was revealed by PN Singh, the manager of the Jharkhand cricket team.

The four-Test series between India and visiting Australian teams is leveled at 1-1 and the third Test begins in Ranchi on 16tth March.

"Our team arrived in Delhi and Dhoni is flying in a day later. We have a knockout match against Vidarbha on 15th and a semifinal on 17th. We are confident of reaching the semifinal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and hence Dhoni's presence at the Ranchi stadium is "unlikely", PN Singh said from Ranchi.

Dhoni paid a surprise visit to the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) stadium in Ranchi on Thursday. Obviously not being a captain of the Indian team, he refrained from giving his inputs to the curator.

Dhoni and few of members of Jharkhand team returned to Ranchi in a flight.

"They didn't travel in a train this time because we have given a 2-day break to all team members and players have gone home at their different destinations from Kolkata."

Dhoni, the former Railway employee did travel with the team in a train from Ranchi to Kolkata earlier this month.

"This time a journey to Delhi will be in plane. It is about 1200 km journey between Ranchi and Delhi and therefore all team members will be travelling in a plane," the manager further added.
