England vs Australia: David Warner set for commentary role despite ball-tampering ban
Sydney: Banned Australian batsman David Warner is all set commence commentary duties when he ties up with Channel Nine for Australia’s limited-overs series against England next week.
According to cricket.com.au, Warner will be one of the commentators for the second of the five ODIs and the lone Twenty20 international against England.
“Dave is the best one-day and T20 batsman of the past decade so he's perfectly placed to join our coverage for the UK series," Channel Nine's director of sport Tom Malone said to cricket.com.au.
People have tried to paint Dave as the villain in all this, but he's been hurting as much as the others,” he added.
Warner, along with Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft were suspended from representing Australia following the infamous ball-tampering controversy during the Cape Town Test against South Africa.
While Warner and Smith were banned for 12 months, Bancroft was given a nine-month suspension.
However, Warner and Smith will return to action in the upcoming Global T20 Canada League, which also includes some big names like Sunil Narine, Shahid Afridi, Dwayne Bravo among others. While Warner will play for Winnipeg Hawks, Steve Smith will represent Toronto Nationals.
