ICC World Twenty20: Taskin, Arafat held for suspect action
Mumbai: Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed and spinner Arafat Sunny are under scanner for suspect bowling actions during the team’s opening match in the ICC World Twenty20 against Netherlands in Dharamshala on Wednesday.
According to a release by ICC, they are working with the Bangladesh cricket team management to confirm the time for independent testing of both bowlers at the assigned centre in Chennai.
The ICC regulations state “…every reasonable effort shall be made for the Independent Assessment to be carried out and the Independent Assessment Report furnished within a period of 7 days from the date of receipt of the Match Officials’ Report.”
The 20-year-old Taskin has been instrumental in Bangladesh’s success in limited overs in the recent past, including the ICC World Cup 2015 Down Under.
Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha isn’t pleased with ICC for slamming the duo during a world tournament.
He said that both the cricketers have been bowling with the same action for a year and he didn’t feel anything wrong in it. But they do have to go for a test in Chennai.
