Shoaib Akhtar hits back at Ian Chappell after his remarks against Pakistan side

Chappell had blasted Pakistan and asked Cricket Australia not to invite them to play cricket in Australia unless they improve.

Mumbai: Shoaib Akhtar is not someone to hold back his horses and this time around, he has taken on Ian Chappell. The former Australian skipper had criticised Pakistan following their 0-3 series loss against Steve Smith and Co in Australia.

While Pakistan put up a solid fight in the first Test chasing 490 runs to win, they came apart in the second and third Test as Australia sailed towards easy wins. Although Pakistan had been number one side till recently before Virat Kohli-led Indian side grabbed the top spot in the Test rankings, their below par showing pushed them to number five spot.

Chappell, who was unimpressed with Pakistan’s show in the series, slammed the Misbah-ul-Haq and Co, saying: "Pakistan have now lost 12 Test matches on the trot in Australia, and somebody's got to give them a kick up the bum. Cricket Australia have got to start saying 'listen if things don't improve, we will stop with the invites'.”

"You can't continue to (play poor) cricket. You can't bowl poorly, have conservative field placings and field sloppily and expect to play decent cricket in Australia," added Chappell.

Shoaib had hit back at Chappell saying:
