Things heat up! Vinod Kambli, Aakash Chopra in a Twitter spat over Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane's form is under scanner after failing to score runs during recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka.

Mumbai: Team India batsman Ajinkya Rahane’s form is under scanner after failing to score runs during recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka. While other batsmen scored heavily against Lankans, the Mumbai batsman could not make the most of his opportunities. The 29-year-old star batsman was the biggest flop of the series for India where he only managed to score a total of 17 runs in five innings.

India’s next assignment will be the tour to South Africa, and Rahane’s form will be a cause of concern for Team India management. Team India’s vice-captain was promoted to number three in the second innings in the New Delhi Test, which the hosts eventually drew.

Aakash Chopra who was a part of the commentary team has then tweeted " Good on India to send Rahane at 3....must get some runs before boarding the flight to SA. #IndvSL,", but former India player Vinod Kambli challenged Chopra’s comment on Rahane. Kambli tweeted back, saying "MR CHOPRA, how will he get runs? Can you suggest ??????".

While Chopra, decided to remain silent, Kambli continued his probe with yet another tweet "our entire cricketing nation wants to know" in the query.

Kambli stuck with the topic, and said, "the main question remains unanswered". The former Delhi batsman finally decided to respond, he tweeted "please provide proof that the entire cricketing nation wants to know."

Chopra finally decided to bring an end to this twitter battle by saying, "we should get on a call and discuss this...instead of doing it here."

Previously, Vinod Kambli came out in support of Ajinkya Rahane and felt that he needed just one big knock to get back his confidence.

"He is struggling but once he gets in, he should get bigger runs. Getting out so early, you lose your confidence and concentration. So for him, it's one big knock. If he gets an opportunity, one big knock will bring back his confidence," said the 45-year-old former batsman, who represented India in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs.
