Mohammed Shami pulls hamstring, leaves field
Rajkot: While Joe Root and Moeen Ali dominated the proceeding in the second session on the day one of the first India versus England Test, Team India skipper Virat Kohli had another reason to worry after Mohammed Shami was forced to go out of the field.
The Indian pacer, who was bowling his tenth over of the match, could have pulled his hamstring. In the 61st over of the England innings, Shami, after bowling the first ball of the over, went to his bowling mark holding his thigh. Seeing Shami struggle, Indian team physio rushed onto the field as Virat Kohli, Amit Mishra and Gautam Gambhir looked on with concern.
While Indian players would have hoped that Shami was fine to continue the over, it did not turn out that way as he made a walk back to the dressing room. Although Umesh Yadav completed the over, India were sweating over Shami’s fitness.
To everyone's relief, Shami came back onto the field after a while and bowled a few over before England ended day one for 311/4.
