Bengaluru Blasters bowler Prasidh Krishna is all set to display his prowess at the upcoming KPL league.

He’s had an eventful year and things just got busier for this 22-year-old bloke who will be playing the Karnataka Premier League, which kicks off on August 15. Meet cricketer Prasidh Krishna, who is all set to display his bowling prowess for the Bengaluru Blasters this season. In a tete-e-tete with us, the talented lad got talking about his tryst with cricket, his IPL ride and more….

“KPL is our tournament and belongs to Karnataka, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m playing for the Bengaluru Blasters again it’s a relatively new team with a really supportive management. We did have a poor season last year, but we still have a good rapport and atmosphere amongst us,” reveals the youngster.

How has he upped his fitness level this season? “I haven’t had an off season since last year, and fitness has been more (stringent) than last year. I’m focusing on power workouts which will be helpful for the upcoming matches,” he answers

As someone who played the IPL 2018 for the Kolkata Knight Riders, Prasidh says, “I went in there as a newcomer as I joined the team after the second game, so it was a bit of a challenge to get used to the atmosphere. I’m happy I played well. It was a great experience to interact with the legends of the game I’ve looked upto many of them and watched them on TV, so to meet them in person and share the dressing room was great. When I went upto them with questions, they were kind enough to talk to me. In fact, before my first game I spoke to our skipper Dinesh Karthik, who told me that it’s just another game and guided me on how to go about things.”

This Bengaluru huduga’s encounter with cricket happened on the gully. Soon, he got into Basavanagudi Cricket Academy and was picked for his school team. “I then represented the state in the U-14 team at the age of 13 when I was in the eighth grade,” says the alumnus of Carmel School. “My school was very encouraging and never questioned me about not attending classes. Later, I got into Jain University only because of the sports quota and even there, I was allowed to miss classes for my game and I still got to write my exam,” shares Prasidh.

Growing up in a sports-inclined family meant things were smooth for this pacer. “My mom has played university volleyball and dad is really fond of cricket, and was a popular cricketer among his friends. My folks never questioned me about what I was doing and always stood by me through the ups and downs, and said it’s your life, make it big,” he says.

When he’s not playing cricket, this football fanatic likes to watch or play footie, indulge in other sports or plays FIFA games with his buddies. “My favourite football team is Manchester United and my current favourite player is Marcus Rashford,” he smiles.
