Hyderabad: B. Sandeep added two more wickets to his overnight tally to finish with six wickets as Income Tax drew their Premier League cricket match on Wednesday.
Sandeep had a good match overall. He scored 193 in the first innings, took 6 for 54 with his left-arm spin and then stroked 41 in Income Tax’s second innings in a drawn game at ECIL ground. After having bowled Sporting out for 145 in their first innings for a lead of 261, Income Tax declared their second innings at 231 for 6. Sporting then rode on knocks from Surya Pratap (50) and Mansingh Ramesh (86) to reply with 222 for 4 as the match meandered into a draw.
In another match, Jai Hanuman defeated Charminar by four wickets despite a five-wicket haul by mediumpacer G. Gireesh Goud. The right-armer took 5 wickets while conceding 60 runs in the second innings even as Jai Hanuman successfully chased down the target.
At the end of the day, the League’s flawed points system came to the fore. While Income Tax bagged a whopping 15 points for a draw, Jai Hanuman got only 12 for an outright win. Worse, Chariminar walked away with six points despite losing their match outright. Baffling!
