No better gauge than playing India: Chandika Hathurusingha

The 48-year-old staked claim for more on the basis of improved performances in other versions of the game.

Hyderabad: His side may be languishing in the tail of the Test ranking table but Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha feels playing against the best at the highest level is the only way of knowing where they stand in the world game.
“No better gauge than playing the No.1 team in the world, to see where we at in Test cricket,” the former Sri Lankan batsman said on Wednesday.

“We haven’t played five-day cricket for long time. We can only improve by playing more Tests. For the batters to concentrate for a long time and play under pressure, that’s what we need them to expose them to,” he added.

The 48-year-old staked claim for more on the basis of improved performances in other versions of the game. “Bangladesh is now competing against good teams. Playing well against India in one-dayers was a factor for getting a game here. This is the ideal time to play,” he said.
