Sourav Ganguly lauds Virat Kohli for his tribute to MS Dhoni
Mumbai: Sourav Ganguly heaped praises on Virat Kohli after his tribute to MS Dhoni. Ganguly, who led in the past with solid success, was impressed with Kohli’s show of respect towards Dhoni, who powered India to many remarkable feats in his nine-year reign.
After Dhoni stepped down from India’s limited-overs captaincy, Kohli had first posted a message on Twitter saying Dhoni will always be his captain.
Kohli then, while speaking to BCCI.tv, did not hold back in his praise for Dhoni and appreciated the role Dhoni played in his development as a cricketer.
Kohli said: “These are massive shoes to fill, there is no doubt. If you think of MS Dhoni and the first word that comes to mind is captain. You don’t relate MS Dhoni in any other way. For me, he is always going to be my captain because I started my career under him.”
Ganguly, now a president at the Cricket Association of Bengal, lauded Kohli’s gesture saying: "@imVkohli..@BCCI..his write up on MSD..amazing respect..thts why where he is today..a lesson for all cricktrs how to respect an achiever."
He also tweeted: "@imVkohli ..human beings like you raise the stature of indian cricket ..god bless."
