Vijay Merchant Trophy Under 16: T Rohan, Trishank Gupta, Vasu top bowlers

Hyderabad snatched seven points for their super show.

Hyderabad: T. Rohan and Trishank Gupta took five wickets each to bowl Hyderabad to a thumping win over Goa in their Vijay Merchant Trophy Under 16 league match at the Gymkhana ground on Thursday.

Right-arm seamer Rohan returned with figures of 5 for 22 while leg-spinner Trishank got 5 for 33 as Goa were all out for a mere 120 in their second innings to hand Hyderabad an innings and 57-run victory on the third and final day. The hosts snatched seven points for their super show.

In another match, left-arm spinner Vasu took 5 for 33 but Andhra could not quite finish off Karnataka, which hung on at 165 for 8 while following on to salvage a point. After Andhra had piled a massive 444, Vasu ran through the Karnataka line-up to bowl them out for a paltry 139 and return with brilliant figures of 21.1-11-33-5.

Following on, Karnataka were in deep trouble in the second innings as well with wickets falling all around. However, they staved off embarrassment by just about hanging on. The match between Tamil Nadu and Kerala too ended in a draw with TN taking three points for the first innings lead after forcing Kerala to follow-on and taking three wickets.
