Virat Kohli should look himself in the mirror: Sunil Gavaskar
Kolkata: Royal Challengers Bangalore have been anything but good this season, something that has attracted a lot of criticism for their players. Being the captain of the Bengaliri-based franchise, Virat Kohli has attracted the most amount of criticism.
Despite having the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Kedar Jadhav in their side, RCB have flopped this season, going on a seven-match winless streak.
Virat Kohli, who was on tremendous form for India during the 13-Test long season, has been unable to haul RCB out of their current slumber, something that has attracted more criticism.
Former India captain and cricket pundit Sunil Gavaskar was critical of Kohli after RCB suffered a six-wicket loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders, a match in which the 28-year-old scored five from nine balls.
"First thing he should be doing is look (at) himself in the mirror," Gavaskar said on the host broadcaster,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports.
"The shot he played (against Kings XI) wasn’t exactly a great shot. The shot he played at Eden Gardens (against Kolkata, when dismissed for a duck) wasn’t a great shot,” said Gavaskar. “He has got to say to himself that he is the captain, he has got to stay out there. He is not in form so stay there and he should work himself in with proper cricketing shots then widen the scope of the shots.”
"Just get the boundary. Between a four and a six the difference is two runs (but) because you hit the ball in the air, the risk percentage goes up to 100," Gavaskar concluded.
