Farokh Engineer to propose changes to cricket' at Pataudi Memorial Lecture

Farokh Engineer revealed he will recall some interesting anecdotes with ex-India captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi at the memorial lecture.

Mumbai: Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Farokh Engineer is all set to suggest few changes that he would like to see in cricket, during the Pataudi Memorial Lecture in Bengaluru, on Thursday.

"Pataudi was my very close friend and I played under his captaincy. It would be great pleasure to revive my memories with him," he said before boarding a Bengaluru-bound flight on Tuesday.

"I will describe my days with late Pataudi and (share) some anecdotes," he said. "I also want to suggest few changes (to) the game of cricket should undergo."

Sharmila Tagore, the wife of late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi is likely to be present at the occasion.

Several state cricket associations have decided to boycott the evening function because the invitation was restricted to the qualified members. However, the CoA (Committee of Administrators) is not worried about that.

"It is their decision if they want to remain absent," one of the member said.

The BCCI will not persuade them on this issue, one of the member confirmed.

"Our invitation was sent once only and there was no rejoinder thereafter", the CoA member added.

The member quashed the media speculations which suggested that a rejoinder in a lighter tone was sent to the state associations afterwards.
