Virat Kohli turns vegan to improve fitness standards; here's what he eats

Mumbai: As a chubby kid who once gorged on biryani, mutton rolls, butter chicken and all kinds of junk food; Virat Kohli has come a long distance to emerge as one of the most influential sporting icons. In an effort to improve his fitness levels, it is learnt that the flamboyant Delhi batsman has turned vegan from the past four months and his progress has still been phenomenal. Meat, eggs and dairy-based products have been swapped for protein shakes, vegetables and soya from his diet as per the Times of India.

“Kohli started this diet four months ago and is feeling stronger as his digestive power has increased. He isn’t missing meat, eggs or dairy,” a close source revealed.

The change of diet has had an influential effect on his temperament and focus and has made him happier. The 29-year-old was planning to turn vegan around two years ago after being influenced by wife Anushka Sharma who also follows the same diet.

“Two years ago, when he was on a normal diet, he had said that he would go vegan if given a choice. He is now feeling stronger than before,” the source added.

Worldwide athletes such as Serena Williams, Hector Bellerin, Lewis Hamilton and few others have also achieved peak fitness by going vegan.
