Stale food discovered from Jaddu's Food Field eatery owned by Ravindra Jadeja

The eatery has been served a notice period of four days by the authorities to get their act together and adhere to the hygiene standards.

Rajkot: A large amount of rotten food and vegetables was discovered in several food joints situated at Rajkot city on Saturday, including ‘Jaddu’s Food Field’ owned by Team India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja

The raids, conducted by the health department of the Rajkot municipal corporation destroyed large amounts of eatables stored that were preserved beyond the expiry date.

The eateries have been served a notice period of four days by the authorities to get their act together and adhere to the hygiene standards.

At Jadeja’s restaurant, boiled food in store for long periods, bread with fungus, food colour, food items and vegetables without any details about the expiry date were destroyed immediately. The eatery also did not have a crusher and was asked to get one.

“Yes, we had some quantity of boiled and cooked food. Only a few pieces of bread had gone stale. We used to preserve cooked food, but now we will ensure it is destroyed the same night. Also, we did not have a crusher,” Nainaba, Ravindra Jadeja’s sister who is the caretaker, was quoted as saying by Ahmedabad Mirror.

“We could not find it in the market, but will make arrangements now. The food colours were meant to be used only for vegetable carvings and not in food,” she added.

Ravindra Jadeja is among the many cricketers to own restaurants. Players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer Khan and many others also own their own food chains.
