Kohli-led India and Williamson-led New Zealand clashed with U-19 squads 11 years ago

It remains to be seen if Kohli and India can repeat history and smash Kane Williamson’s New Zealand again on Tuesday, July 9.

Mumbai: India finished on the top of the table after beating Sri Lanka in the last group stage match of the team. The Men in Blue, led by skipper Virat Kohli, now face New Zealand in the first semi-final game on July 9.

The skippers of both teams led their under-19 squads to face each other in 2008, over a decade ago, which also happened to be the semi final of the tournament.

Ravindra Jadeja, Trent Boult and Tim Southee were also in the squads that met over a decade ago in 2008. India had beaten New Zealand by three wickets with Kohli taking out Kane Williamson’s wicket.

A young Rohit Sharma was then busy representing India in the 2008 Commonwealth Bank ODI tri-series. Rohit Sharma has also been in superb form, having hit five centuries In the 2019 World Cup so far.
