RCB's Chris Jordan eager to face challenge
Bengaluru: Following his strong show at the World T20 championship for England in March, Royal Challengers Bangalore will expect Chris Jordan to produce much the same in order to turn their IPL campaign around.
Having been brought in as replacement for Mitchell Starc, the death bowling skills of the Sussex bowler will be key to the Bengaluru outfit, who have so far struggled to defend even the big scores.
The high expectation hardly fazes Jordan. “What people think from outside is not really my concern. It’s what my teammates and coaches see in me. I’m just going to do what I normally do and give my best. If I can give my 100 percent, whether it is my day or not, I can feel comfortable,” said the pacer on Friday.
“As far as bowling is concerned, since the time I have arrived the guys have been working really hard on training. There are things that may not be going right for the team right now, but that’s life. We just need to keep looking forward to the next game and the game after that. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways,” he remarked, adding that his teammates have gone out of their way to help him settle down.
With RCB occupying the lower half of the table and desperately needing wins to fuel their cause, the 27-year-old believes that every game going forward is a must-win. “You can be tempted to look ahead, but first and foremost we have to deal with the game tomorrow and if we win that, then the next game,” he said.
With stakes this high, Jordan is relishing the challenge. “The vibe is very positive. We have sort of put everything that happened before behind us and we are looking forward to the challenge ahead. If we do come out at the right end of it, we would have made a great turnaround and who knows what can happen going into the back end of the tournament,” he said.
