Wrap-up: Vinod Rai to lead panel to run BCCI
In a major change to the way cricket is handled in India, the Supreme Court has appointed a four-member committee headed by former CAG Vinod Rai to administer the day-to-day affairs of the BCCI after the removal of its president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke for non-implementation of Lodha panel reforms. Other members are Ramachandra Guha, historian, Vikram Limaye, the managing director and CEO of IDFC Ltd, and Diana Edulji, former Indian women cricket team captain, to oversee the BCCI till it falls in line with Lodha panel recommendations.
The top court bench also appointed Mr Limaye, BCCI joint secretary Amitabh Choudhury and its treasurer Anirudh Chowdhury to represent the BCCI at the ICC meeting in the first week of February. The court said the committee’s first job is to ascertain which of the orders of Lodha panel has been implemented and which are the suggestions not complied with and file a status report in four weeks.
