Storm brews in HCA ahead of Special General Meeting
Hyderabad: The ongoing feud within the Hyderabad Cricket Association took a major toll late on Friday after president G. Vivekanand suspended secretary T. Shesh Narayan in a debatable decision.
The move comes right ahead of Sunday’s Special General Meeting which promises to be an intense affair and is likely to witness frayed tempers.
Earlier, Vivek had issued a show-cause notice to Shesh “for going against the decisions of the Apex Council” and found his response unsatisfactory which triggered the suspension.
Against this bickering backdrop, Cricket Association of Telangana secretary Sunil Babu Kolanpaka has called the HCA a complete failure in developing cricket in Telangana. “The latest happenings at the HCA have shown cricket in poor light. It is shameful that these six members of the HCA (Apex Council) have been busy fighting within themselves since their election, which is also challenged in the court,” he said.
“It’s time the Government of Telangana stepped in and saved the face of state as well as the game. The government should dissolve the HCA body and appoint an Ad-Hoc committee comprising three or five members,” he added.
“CAT will further aim to stake claim, to take over HCA’s district unit to develop cricket in Hyderabad,” Sunil said. With allegations, pressure, rift within the body and a condition of turmoil, it will be interesting to see how Sunday’s SGM unfolds.
