R Ashwin fulfils his wife Prithi's dream, pledges for eye donation
Chennai: R Ashwin, who capped off an incredible 2016 by winning two prestigious ICC awards – ICC Cricketer of the Year and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year – has begun 2017 on a noble note. The Indian off-spinner, who recently turned father for the second time after his wife Prithi Ashwin delivered a baby girl, pledged to donate his eyes.
Ashwin, who is active on the social media platform, took to Twitter to share the news. Ashwin also said that it was on Prithi’s, his wife’s dream list for a long time. The Tamil Nadu cricketer, who is heading the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders and bowlers, also urged his followers to contribute to such a cause.

Ashwin, who was picked for ICC Test of the Year 2016, finished 2016 with 72 wickets in Tests and scored 612 runs. The leading spinner in the world will play his first match of 2017 as Virat Kohli-led Indian side takes on England in a three-match ODI series and three Twenty20s.
Kohli was named India's skipper after Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down from captaincy from the limited-overs cricket.
