Rohit Sharma set to break a massive record during IND-BAN 2nd T20I
Mumbai: After breaking two massive records during the first T20I against Bangladesh, India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma is set to touch another milestone during the second T20I.
During the second T20I, the 32-year-old will be the second cricketer in the history to feature in 100 T20Is games – only Pakistan’s all-rounder Shoaib Malik has achieved the feat, after having played 111 T20Is. Also, he will surpass Afridi’s record of 99 T20I caps.
Earlier, in the first T20I, Rohit surpassed Mahendra Singh Dhoni to become the most capped Indian cricketer in the T20I format. The hitman took the field against Bangladesh on Sunday and broke Dhoni’s record of 98 T20I appearances, after he led India in place of regular skipper Virat Kohli, who has been rested for the on-going T20I series.
Also, during the same match, the vice-captain of India dethroned Virat Kohli to become the highest T20I run-scorer. Rohit is now two runs ahead of Kohli (2450). The Indian duo are followed by Martin Guptill (2,326), Shoaib Malik (2,263) and Brendon McCullum (2,140) at third, fourth and fifth place in the list.
