Pakistan High Commission 'humiliates' Imran Tahir, family; here's what happened

South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir took to Twitter to share his forgettable experience.

Birmingham: South Africa’s premium spinner Imran Tahir on Monday revealed that he and his family were humiliated by the Pakistan High Commission in Birmingham while getting his Visas granted for the upcoming World XI series against Pakistan in Lahore.

Pakistan-origin-South African Tahir will play for World XI in a three match T20 series against Pakistan next week. He took to Twitter to share his forgettable experience.

“Me with my family were humiliated & expelled from Pak High Commission earlier today when I went to get visa to play for WorldXI in Pakistan," Tahir tweeted.

Later on, the Pakistan High Commission confirmed that the 38-year-old leg-spinner was assisted by the consulate staff. The high commission also added that this was because Tahir’s family members owned South African passports and additional processes were needed.

Reacting to this, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that required action will be taken against whoever is responsible.

The Independence Cup, as it is called, will kick-off with the first T20 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on September 12. This will be followed by the second and third T20s at the same venue on September 13 and 15 respectively.
