Kashmir martyr's daughter Zohra thanks Gautam Gambhir for his kind gesture

This is not the first time when Gautam Gambhir has come out in support of the armed forces and their children.

Srinagar: Zohra, daughter of the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police Abdul Rasheed, who lost his life in an encounter with terrorists in August, on Tuesday expressed gratitude to veteran Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir for offering his help.

Thanking Gambhir for his gesture, the five-year old said that she and her family are extremely happy with the cricketer's move before revealing that she wants to become a doctor.

"Thank you Gautam Sir. Me and my family are very happy with your gesture. I want to study and become a doctor," Zohra told the reporters.

Earlier in the day, Gambhir had pledged to help Zohra with her education for lifetime.

In an emotional message on Twitter, Gambhir had said he would help the young child realise her dreams.

On August 28, Rashid was killed when militants fired at him at Mehandi Kadal in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir.Images of Zohra weeping inconsolably at her father's wreath-laying ceremony in Srinagar had gone viral and moved many.

This is not the first time when the Delhi cricketer has come out in support of the armed forces and their children.

Earlier in April, Gambhir pledged to bear the educational expenses of children of the 25 Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) personnel, who were killed in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh's Sukma District.
