How Kagiso Rabada has become South Africa's ace paceman

The 22-year-old talent is already shouldering the responsibility of South Africa pace attack in absence of Dale Steyn.

London: The young pace sensation Kagiso Rabada is one of the rising stars in world cricket at the moment. The 22-year-old exciting talent is already shouldering the responsibility of the South Africa pace attack in absence of Dale Steyn, who is out with a shoulder injury.

Against England, Rabada has the impressive record of picking up 22 wickets in just three matches. The last time both the teams met each other was in fourth Test at Centurion in January 2016, where Rabada had recorded match figures of 13 for 144.

The Proteas haven't lost an away Test series and will look to continue the momentum when they take on England in upcoming Test series. Rababa already has 71 scalps to his name in the 17 Tests he has played so far.

Dean Elgar, who in absence of Faf Du plesis, will be captaining the side in the first Test at Lords starting Thursday. Speaking about Rabada Elgar said, "He's been a find and he's taken to international cricket brilliantly. Those were the characteristics we expected he would show at this level."

The new captain is confident Rabada will rise to the occasion once more at the 'Home of Cricket'.

"I'm sure he'll be up for it," Elgar said. "He hasn't played a lot of cricket of late, so I'm sure his hunger is through the roof. You can see the way he's bowling in the nets. He's fresh and willing to go. If he hits his straps he's going to be something exciting to watch."
