Mumbai: In an article by the crictracker, a report states that the Kings XI Punjab have always been the dark horses of the Indian Premier League. The Gayle and co can often be tipped as the weakest team in the league. The only time they have reached the finals of the IPL was way back in 2014.

Fate was already written for the Royal Challenger Bangalore, who were knocked out of the tournament, soon after RCB’s exit from the IPL, the KXIP team too followed RCB’s path of elimination.

Despite winning a few games, and showing a great desire to succeed, the KXIP have failed to live up to their best. And especially in this IPL year’s edition, the Ravichandran Ashwin-led team had a flying start.

Gayle’s team initially secured four straight wins in their starting six matches, despite those wins Ashwin’s team somehow ended at sixth position, winning only six games in total. After a flying start, the Preity Zinta backed team slumped drastically as they lost six games out of their last eight fixtures.

As the RCB finsihed last with 11 points, Ashwin’s team could only gather 12 points. If we analyse KXIP’s whole IPL campaign, we can clearly say that it has been filled with controversies – starting with Ashwin’s mankading, followed by the arrest of its co-owner, Ness Wadia, who has been arrested in Japan for allegedly possessing drugs.

On the backdrop of all of this, Punjab won their final league game against the Chennai Super Kings. Following their win, bollywood actor, Preity Zinta took to twitter to express her disappointment about her team’s exit, and to thank the fans for their love and unconditional support.
