Jammu and Kashmir tweet and now IPL remark: Shahid Afridi chides Indians

Mumbai: Shahid Afridi has been dominating the headlines for all the wrong reasons ever since his tweet on the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir attacks since Tuesday. Commenting on the ongoing political tension surrounding the Indian Territory, the former Pakistan skipper demanded an intervention from United Nations into the matter.

However, after coming under intense criticism, the veteran cricketer has fuelled the fire by stating he wouldn’t play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) even if an offer comes its way in the future.

"Even if they call me, I won't go to the IPL. My PSL is the biggest and there will be a time that it leaves the IPL behind. I am enjoying the PSL, I don't have any need for the IPL. I'm not interested in it and never was," he was quoted as saying by Pakpassion.net

Surprisingly, back in 2012, the all-rounder had commented that IPL was the 'best organised foreign league' and it was different from any other T20 league.

"Although I played just once in the IPL but it is easily the biggest league you can play in and I enjoyed my experience. The IPL is clearly the best organised foreign league and it was a totally different experience playing in it," Afridi had said.

After security forces in Kashmir killed 12 terrorists in the recent encounter, Afridi stated "innocents" were being shot down.

"Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self-determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other international bodies and why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?" Afridi had commented.
