Carlos Brathwaite, remember the name

Former Caribbean bowler Ian Bishop's master commentary wins hearts.

Mumbai: Cricketers create history on field, commentators are no less off it. Expressions like “What a player!” (Tony Greig on Sachin Tendulkar), “6 and 4 seems to have become the new Binary Code for this man” (Harsha Bhogle on Chris Gayle) are iconic. Former West Indies bowler Ian Bishop added another phrase which the cricket fraternity will remember for years. “Carlos Brathwaite! Carlos Brathwaite! Remember the name,” he said.

The Caribbean all-rounder slammed four consecutive sixes in the last over off Ben Stokes to steer West Indies to a four-wicket win in the ICC World Twenty20 final at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.

As soon as West Indies looked like staging a comeback, former England player David Lloyd left the microphone to Bishop after the first three balls cleared the fence.

Bishop went emotional as the West Indies raced away to victory with two balls to spare. Bishop played 43 Tests and 84 one-day internationals for West Indies in his nine-year international career.
