'Will give befitting response': PCB on BCCI's refusal to play Pakistan

Relations between the 2 neighbours has plunged to a new low in the wake of Uri terror attack and the subsequent surgical strikes carried.

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) executive committee's chairman Najam Sethi on Tuesday insisted that they will "give befitting response to Anurag Thakur" in the upcoming ICC board meeting, after the BCCI chief urged the cricket's governing body not to put Pakistan and India in the same pool during the multi-national tournaments, the Dawn reports.

The relationship between the two estranged neighbours has plunged to a new low in recent times in the wake of Uri terror attack and the subsequent surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC).

Thakur along with other BCCI officials had deliberated on the issue during the Special General Meeting (SGM) last week.

The ICC generally puts both the teams in the same group as it generates enormous amount of publicity for the game. The next global tournament is the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held in England in June next year.

India has not played a full-fledged bilateral series against Pakistan since the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai.

The ICC board meeting will be held in Cape Town, South Africa later this month.
